3 Quick and Easy Pre-Yoga Stretching Techniques

All muscles tend to tighten up when idle, particularly the long muscles in your legs, back, and the sides of your body between your hips and your armpits. sitting for a long time in the same position at a desk or bench will often stiffen neck or shoulder muscles. Such stiffness creates tension in the body and can even influence your state of mind. But the most common danger of stiff muscles is that sudden movement that may cause damage. The following are some popular stretchers:

bend and Sway

With your feet apart and your hands on your hips, bend the upper body to the left; then bend back as far as you can go, then to the right, and then forward. bend to the left again and repeat. After several bends, reverse direction and do several more. You should feel the muscles stretching on both sides of your body. Clasping your hands behind your neck or above your head will increase the stretching benefit.

From the same starting position as above, sway, do not rotate, from one side to the other. Extending the arms high above the head will give you maximum benefit.

Wing Flaps

To loosen the shoulder muscles, stand with your elbows out and your fists together in front of you about neck high. Your forearms should be parallel to the floor. Slowly pull your fists apart, and bring your elbows back as far as they will go. Do several smooth repetitions. Raising or lowering the level of your arms will spread the stretch up and down your shoulders. Some other good stretchers include the bend, the groin stretch, the propeller, and the cobra.

bend

begin with your feet together and knees straight but relaxed. bend slowly form the waist with your fingers pointing to your toes and your head bowed. When you have reached the farthest you can hold for 10 seconds. Then rise very slowly to a straight-up position. Repeat. If the muscles along the back of your legs are very tight, do not expect to touch your toes right away. Just make sure that those leg muscles get a good stretch, and you will enjoy daily improvements.

Variation 1: bend slowly forward and clasp your hand hands behind your legs. Pull your body down slowly by bending your elbows out.

Variation 2: Clasp your hands behind your legs even lower than in variation 1. Pull your body down slowly.

For both variations, hold for 10 seconds.

Linux Quick Start - Getting to the Linux Command Line From a Linux Desktop to Run Linux Commands

When you are new to linux, you can make learning linux easier by using a linux desktop. This is because it's easier to run linux software programs and run linux commands from a linux desktop.

To run linux commands from a desktop, you need to open a terminal emulation window (a.k.a. linux terminal or linux console). Once you've opened a linux terminal, the linux command line prompt appears and you can run linux commands.

linux Tips: The linux command line prompt is also known as "CLI", for "command line interface". And linux commands are also known as "linux terminal commands" and "linux console commands".
With over 130 different linux distributions (versions) to choose from, running several different linux desktops, it may seem confusing to open a linux terminal. But there are basically three easy ways to open a linux terminal and get to the linux command line prompt - so you can learn how to use linux commands.

3 Ways to Open a linux Terminal Emulation window (Terminal / Console) from the linux Desktop

1. Look for an icon that looks like a computer screen and click on it. Some desktops don't have this icon.

2. right-click on an empty space on the desktop and a menu will appear. Look for an item on the menu named "linux terminal", "linux console", or similar - and select this item.

3. Look through all the menus (and submenus) on the desktop for the words "linux terminal", "linux console", or similar, - and select this item.

After you've opened a terminal emulation window, you'll see a linux command line prompt. This prompt may appear like this ]$ or it may look different on your system.

You can see all the steps to open a linux terminal and how the linux prompt appears for several linux distributions by watching linux video tutorials - the easy way to get linux training!

GTA IV Provokes Politicians Already

Grand Theft Auto has always been a franchise that likes to bathe itself in controversy, shower itself off in heated debate and deodorize in wild accusations. Whether it is the intentionally amoral gameplay or the amazingly unsexy "hot coffee" debacle, gta has proved time and time again that there's no such thing as bad publicity.

Gamers on both the PlayStation 3 and xbox 360 are eagerly awaiting the latest instalment in the gta series later this year, and when the real sequel to gta III, the amazingly-named gta IV launches (there have been several spin-offs since gta III, such as Liberty City Stories, etc). The web was alive with downloaders recently when RockStar finally allowed gamers their first peak at the game in the shape of a teaser trailer.

Within hours though, while gamers dissected the footage, politicians leapt in to criticize. What were they criticizing? The fictional setting, Liberty City, which resembles New York. A lot. City politicians were aghast at the idea of a piece of fiction portraying violence on the streets on New York, apparently being ignorant of pretty much the entire work of Martin Scorsese.

"Setting Grand Theft Auto in the safest big city in America would be like setting halo in Disneyland," said City Councilman Peter Vallone, chairman of the Council's Public Safety Committee to The New York Daily news. He's not the only one to have a go, either. Spotting an opportunity to look good, a spokesman for the mayor had a go too: "The mayor does not support any video game where you earn points for injuring or killing police officers."

Oddly though, New York City hasn't seemed to have had a problem with movie companies setting their violent and action thrillers in the city, with roads closed for the Die hard 3 film, for example. Had RockStar turned up with millions of dollars in order to shoot the city for textures for the games, would there have been praise galore for the realism the game offered?

All of this criticism, of course, ignore the whole "it's fiction" nature of the game which leads to the question of whether future novelists, film makers, animators, artists and games companies will be asked not to show the city with any violence in it. Because fiction has to reflect reality apparently, somewhat destroying the point of fiction.

As to the trailer itself, there's not a hint of violence. It's undeniable that the game features a fictionalised version of NYC. As the GTA IV preview in P3Zine, the free PlayStation 3 magazine shows, but already game commentators are theorizing that gta IV will feature more realism and less violence without repercussions, as RockStar has supposedly been talking to ex-cops about how much harder organised crime is to get away with these days.

RockStar has repeatedly pushed gta IV with the tagline "Things will be different" a phrase echoed by the main character in the trailer, but it appears that criticism of the franchise is not going to any different this time around, starting before the game has even appeared. It's unlikely to damage sales. Even in NYC.
